My Story
My name is Yasmin; I am 22 years old and based in London. I have loved art for as long as I can remember, always carrying around a sketchbook, and began painting during my GCSEs with acrylics and watercolours. At 16, I discovered oil painting and immediately knew it was the medium for me.
Alongside studying Biology and Chemistry at A Level, I developed my portfolio and was lucky enough to receive word-of-mouth commissions, including pet portraits. In the summer before starting university, I studied at London Fine Art Studios in Battersea, where I was introduced to the sight-size technique used by the Old Masters. Receiving formal teaching has improved my work significantly, and I knew then that I wanted to emulate the great painters like Sargent and Van Dyck.
While studying Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham, I continued to create art and accept commissions through Instagram. In 2024, shortly before completing my master’s degree, I spent a month in Florence at Charles Cecil Studios on an intensive portraiture course, an experience that changed my life.
I have finally created this website to streamline commissions, and share a portfolio of my work as I save towards returning to Florence next year. Thank you for supporting me; it truly means the world!
